hair care tips
BELOW ARE SOME TIPS AND GUIDELINES ON HOW TO BEST MAINTAIN YOURÂ RAW HAIR EXTENSIONS:
Pre-Installation:
- Wash your hair thoroughly before installation.
Deep Conditioning:
- We recommend deep conditioning your extensions approximately every two weeks.
- Because hair is cut from its donor, it lacks natural nutrients; deep conditioning reintroduces these nutrients to restore luster and prolong longevity.
- Use a high-quality hair mask for best results.
Brushing and Detangling:
- Always brush your hair completely before washing, regardless of texture. This ensures easier management when wet.
- Use sulfate-free and paraben-free shampoo and conditioner.
- When detangling wet hair, apply conditioner first and work from the tips upward to the roots.
- A wide-tooth comb or wet brush is ideal; wet brushes are especially recommended for very wavy or curly textures.
- For thick Cambodian hair, rich cream conditioners are most effective.
Post-Wash Care:
- Gently pat hair dry to remove excess water, then brush through without product.
- Apply a small amount of leave-in conditioner to infuse moisture. Cream leave-ins are especially effective for Cambodian hair, though using no product is also acceptable.
- Allow hair to air dry naturally or use a hooded dryer. Avoid blow-drying, as heat can cause strand breakage.
Daily Maintenance:
- Apply a very small amount of hair oil daily. Excess product can make extensions stiff and lifeless.
- For curly or very wavy textures, a generous daily application of leave-in conditioner can help control frizz and define curls or waves. Cream-based leave-ins work best.
- When using heat styling tools, always apply a heat protectant. Oils such as argan oil can double as a protective barrier.
- Use a wide-tooth comb or soft-tipped paddle brush for gentle detangling as needed.
- Sleep with a silk bonnet to retain moisture and prevent breakage.
Coloring Extensions:
- Consult a professional colorist before coloring raw hair extensions to ensure optimal results and avoid over-processing.
Closures & Frontals:
- Have a professional bleach the knots.
- Avoid frequent brushing, as this may loosen knots and increase shedding.
- Follow the general wefted hair care instructions above to maintain the overall health and longevity of your lace products.
